At the heart of Muntpunt, a new public salon winds its way through the regular rows of bookshelves to introduce a soft, welcoming and playful form. A set of simple and repetitive modular devices enables different positions, interactions, and intensities of use. Within arm’s reach of the seating, books become both resources and visible material: displayed, opened, curated and shared within the space itself.
The project activates the few existing vertical surfaces in the room in order to make the most of them, allowing the space to remain completely open. Display panels, shelves, and a small coffee corner animate the area around the large community table — a place for exchange, thematic selections, and temporary narratives, enhanced by its glass display table top.
The salon becomes a place where one can pause, stay, discuss, browse — and sometimes simply be surprised by a book, and find what one was not looking for.
